Victorian Hats and Bonnets in 12th scale
As the 19th century progressed the bonnets became smaller and various other styles of hat started to appear, such as the toque and the low crowned flat-brimmed designs of the Victorians. Original 19th century antiques and fashion magazines have inspired many of the designs below.
All hats are 12th scale and silk lined unless otherwise specified
'Constance'...... this smart shallow crowned design of slate blue is worn perched high on one side of the head showing off the curls of perfectly toning feathers, tiny co-ordinating silk roses and vivid blue seed pearls. The sweeping brim is faced with cream piping giving a suggestion of straw and this is also studded in blue pearls. A silk bandeau holds the hat in it's elegant position.
Rose........ inspired by the TV series 'Ripper Street' this is a combination of antique rose velvet with vibrant peacock silk and organza braided around the high crown. Lace and bows add height to the 19th century toque style with a touch of gold trimmed organza and a brooch of old gold set into the front.
'Ilaria'.......A dainty narrow brimmed hat with rounded crown created from rose silk overlaid with embroidered ecru tulle. The lace trimmed brim is faced with contrasting pale gold silk and festooned with raspberry taffeta ribbon and a spray of handmade flowers and tiny buds. A tulle and taffeta bow finishes the back.
